Reparations

I get my reparations in the form of education. My ancestors were forbidden from learning. I have a Bachelors degree in business. In 6 months I will have a Masters in Human Resources. 3 years later I plan to obtain an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology. I will let my family history showcase my academic accomplishments so there is no doubt in anyone’s mind “We” aren’t capable. My great grandchildren will see what I leave behind for them. A legacy of YES WE CAN. SEE US IN YOUR SPACE. #BlackExcellence #ReadyForGreatness

It’s not enough

It’s not enough to be against something we must become anti-racist not tolerating it in any situation. Then our duty together is to call it out. When we see any injustice we must call it out by name and reveal it’s face. We can no longer run away from hurt, pain, and the systemic injustice that has been created to pigeonhole human beings for over a century. The cycle must be broken. The system must be eliminated until we rebuild one that protects us all. The revolution is being televised. Some people thought it couldn’t happen and they think that it won’t help. Have you been made to feel uncomfortable? Have you been inconvenienced? We may not all understand everything but we have a responsibility to inform ourselves about the topics that are important to us. If you want understanding engage in positive talk with as many different people as possible. Bring your heart and be willing and able to listen. This time it’s about George Floyd. This is really about all of us. Silence is compli...

The People’s House

The People’s House is literally under assault and y’all are protecting the perpetrators. The police should be in protest asking for the arrest of any and every officer who commits murder specifically when they are in uniform. When cops speak out against racism I’ll send out my good job cops post... blue lives don’t exist it’s a UNIFORM. I don’t want anyone to die. I want SYSTEMIC CHANGE on a GLOBAL level. Breaking the system that was not created to protect me can’t be wrong. If you are an officer of the law speak out when those bad apples do wrong. Otherwise I assume you are ok with their behavior. When is it Black Americans turn to feel protected?

Fear of judgement

JUDGEMENT & INVESTMENT The fear of people judging your passion or craft is insanely debilitating; I have suffered with this anxiety all my life. Through the painful suffering of my childhood upbringing and my family’s issues with sexual, physical, mental, and emotional abuse I have learned one thing. I must learn to love me first. The judgement of others on your pain or joy never lasts long. I fear the hurt won’t ever escape my heart. The heartbreak eases. But can it heal enough to love another? A child? Another partner? Family? Friend? Thinking about love literally makes me ill. I had a hard time dealing with the pain of my childhood. I have acknowledged that pain and I accept that as mine. The love I have learned in the last 10 years is beyond what I thought I could handle. Living for another person however produces a judge. Your offspring will tell the tale of the fruits of your labor. Invest in them early. Invest in yourself. Then invest in the community. Invest yourself into...
